WHEN THE MASK FALLS

Karoline Heflin-Tekirdali narrates the life-story of her parents. The duo Kirdall were varieté artists and later on the owners of the “Kirdall Agency”, an artistic agency for beauty-dancers.

In the early stages of his career Chris Kirdall invented his mask dance “When the Mask Falls”, an artistic impression of the formal reality and the real self, which he last performed close before his death, until the mask ultimately fell forever. Already in early years he used the camera for documentation of his reality and provided with this unique footage the visual basis of this film.
